Personally, I go down this void almost daily.
You can really get lost for hours there, and not even realize that time has passed you by.
You also seem to find the most interesting (and sometimes frightening) things…
I’m referring to the void that is YouTube.
I only really started “watching” YouTube about three years ago, like you would “watch TV.”
I would casually use it to watch random videos every now and then, or to practice yoga or maybe follow along on a d.i.y project. But three years ago is when I started really browsing channels on YouTube.
With user-generated submissions and uploaded videos, you are bound to get a wide variety of eclectic content. For me, I am absolutely fascinated with the weird and the wonderful of our planet. (Yes, I was that kid who loved Ripley’s Believe it or Not! and the Guinness World Book of Records.)
So it all began with searching for the coolest place around the world, then to abandoned places around the world, followed by creepiest experiences caught on video, which lead to the world’s most haunted places… and so you see where this is going…
I discovered channels dedicated to the spooky subject matter I was interested in, but also channels that narrated the creepiest and most frightening horror stories ever told. Plus, I really enjoy videos that are structured around listing the “top rated” or “best” of a particular category/subcategory or topic. I fell deep into these channels and binge watched the majority (if not all) of their content. Quickly I became an active subscriber, eagerly awaiting for more next bone chilling videos.
For the month of #spooktober, I wanted to share with you my three favorite horror (and other related subject matter) YouTube channels.
Enter the void, if you dare.
I discovered Top5s almost naturally (through my search rabbit hole of course.)
I really enjoy their content and find his narration easy to listen to and extremely captivating. Located in the UK, Top5s has been on Youtube since 2014 and has uploaded many fascinating and intriguing videos about the secrets of our planet and the mysteries of the world. They cover a wide range of subjects from History to the Paranormal, and they also partake in #spooktober and put out lots of haunted content during the month!
Highly recommend this channel, not just for #spooktober, but for their fascinating and educational videos about the mysteries of our world! You should go check them out over on Top5s (or check out the video above.)
Mr. Nightmare appeared on my feed last year around this time, probably because I was looking up creepy Halloween/horror videos as per usual. I was quickly hooked on his method of storytelling. The production of narration, sound FX and chilling silence is enough to make your skin crawl.
Mr. Nightmare focuses on short (sometimes TRUE) scary stories submitted in by viewers of the channel or list videos that focus on dark subject matter. Emphasis is put into the production quality to really spook the viewer during the stories. Definitely the channel to use if you want to listen to spooky stories around a campfire or just on a dark, spooky hallow’s eve.
I posted the latest upload on Fall Horror stories above… if you dare to watch it.
Lazy Masquerade is the newest horror YouTube channel that I’ve subscribed to, but certainly one of the most addictive to watch. I discovered this channel over the summer and feel I’ve already binged the majority of uploaded videos. I cannot get enough of his narration and the way he presents the content in his videos!
Another UK channel, Lazy Masquerade has been on YouTube since 2006 (holy cow!) and uses the tagline “The best things happen in the dark”… so you know the content will be creepy and captivating! I feel down the rabbit hole with his deep web stories, creepy TRUE reddit posts and unsolved murder cases… for hours…
I felt it was only fitting to include his latest video above (Unsolved Rabbit hole Mysteries) and suggest you give it a watch… and maybe join me down the rabbit hole of this dark and intriguing channel.
