Getting ready for Christmas.

I think we are all getting ready for Christmas a little earlier this year, which should definitely help us feel prepared. But the holidays can really sneak up on you if you let them. And trust me, you do not want to fall down the Christmas eve last minute shopping rabbit hole!

So this year I vowed to get ready, and I mean organized and fully prepped for everything I need to do for Christmas. I get to use my beloved stationary to start planning my gift ideas for my loved ones and things that I need for the holidays.

I find nothing helps you keep on track more than making a list and setting a plan!

Make a list

To keep organized and to make sure I don’t forget anyone, I wrote out a list of everyone I intend on getting gifts for this year, whether ordered or homemade. Then I created a budget of how much I wanted to put aside for Christmas gifts this year.

With this year already being a financially sensitive one for some, approaching Christmas does not provide any relief to your wallet. This year, I decided I really wanted to try making a few presents in nifty craft projects! I enjoy hand making presents whenever possible as it puts a true personal touch on the gift you are giving.

I also wrote out a list of everything that I need to bring all the festive vibes into my home, like attempting to make a dried orange garland for the tree (stay tuned for that Blogmas post…)

Set a budget

Let’s say it, in 2020 money is tight. So in order to reduce any additional stress, I find it helps to set a personal budget for your gift spending. Just so that you can make sure you have everyone covered, and that you don’t go overboard while shopping (which happens to me far often than I’ll ever admit to).

So this year I really wanted to make sure I didn’t completely break the bank on presents, but I still wanted to make sure I covered everyone in my life I want to get presents for! I put a lot more stock into making my gifts this year over purchasing them all, just because I’ve been inspired lately to do more artsy things. But even so, when you’re making gifts, you can accidentally go overboard on the materials… just make sure you are always checking in on things and making sure you aren’t going over your Christmas gift budget!

Make a Christmas “game plan”

If you’re making some of your Christmas presents, make sure you plan WAY in advance and set aside the alloted time to make them. While it seems so far away, Christmas can really sneak up on you if you leave your gift making activities to the last minute!

I love to be organized and have a game plan to focus on, but with the holidays being as chaotic as they are, it’s easy to forget or put things off (unless it’s too late). I use an agenda for my blog post planning and for my usual day to day, so I’ve started planning days and times that I intend to focus on my projects.

Because focusing isn’t really my strong suit, I plan on using an app called Forest, just so I ensure I’m focused for the designated time. while working on gifts and various other projects (like Blogmas!) It’s a really cute app that helps with focusing on tasks by growing a forest. If you’re interested, I’d recommend you check it out! I love it because it deters me from using my phone so I can really concentrate.

The biggest thing is set up a game plan for Christmas and plan in advance so you can truly relax during this usually busy and hectic holiday season! Sit back, make an eggnog latte and snuggle into Christmas with calm relaxing vibrations!

If you took the time to read this blog post, my heart is full. How do you prep for the holiday season? Let’s continue in the comments below (perhaps with a nice cup of coffee, heh.)
